JOB DESCRIPTION – PROJECT MANAGER (Agri Value Chain Project)
TechnoServe India in collaboration with a multinational retail chain is aspiring to assist small holder farmers including women in realizing greater potential through addressing productivity gaps and supply chain inefficiencies. The program is structured to provide support to 8,400 vegetable growers in ten clusters over two years. Specifically, the program includes:
1. Establishing an effective farm level extension services to ensure adequate advisory and capability building support to the farmers required to enhance crop productivity
2. Building capabilities of women and role model farmers on standard cultivation practices through various training and exposure programs
3. Developing effective linkages with the agriculture input supply companies/agencies to facilitate access to quality inputs on a discounted price to the project farmers
4. Enhancing business and financial capabilities of lead farmers and women to undertake viable businesses sustainably within the supply chain
5. Facilitating access to profitable market through developing linkages and addressing key constraint areas

We are currently looking for a suitable person to work as a ‘Project Manager’ and lead the implementation of this initiative. Overall, the Project Manager would be responsible to manage all the program activities highlighted above and successfully complete the project in the stipulated time frame. He/She will also interact and regularly apprise the leadership team of TechnoServe and the client on the progress of the project. Specific tasks include:
 To be responsible in delivering the stated outputs as described in the proposal and MoU
 To develop an actionable plan and work along with the implementation team to complete the project activities in timely fashion
 To set up and coordinate periodic meetings with the client and the leadership team of TechnoServe to apprise on the progress of the project
 To document field learning’s and recommend for full fledged implementation post 16 months
 Any other as required during the course of the project

Key requirements:
 Minimum of 3-4 years of hands on experience in working with agribusiness value chain initiative in the corporate sector;
 Prior work-experience in farmer mobilization, productivity enhancement and procurement will be desirable
 Demonstrated capability to manage large implementation projects and successful management of client
 Significant experience to lead and manage multidimensional team
 Has passion for development and agri-business sector, typically evidenced by a strong interest and prior exposure to global issues such as economic development, agriculture, education or the environment
 Strong analytical abilities (both quantitative and qualitative)
 Minimum of Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Agri-buisness management or a related field
